Roadrunners come from behind to defeat Three Rivers

The Roadrunners picked up a big road victory on Saturday night, Feb. 6, in Poplar Bluff. SFCC (16-7, 3-2 in Region 16, 5-2 in the MCCAC) sophomore forward Clint Robinson made a pair of big plays to seal the victory. He knocked down a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining to put the Roadrunners on top and then blocked a shot that went out of bounds with two seconds remaining. The final Raiders' shot attempt missed, and the Roadrunners emerged with a 78-76 victory.

"Clint was a warrior for us all night," said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "He grabbed a lot of rebounds and was able to block some shots for us. Clint and Keari Brown played well in the post position. Clint competed and battled for us all night and made some big free throws down the stretch. He blocked a shot that could've tied the game; he was a big part of our win."

Robinson led four Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 22 points and finished his double double tying for the lead in rebounds with 13. He also led in blocked shots with three. Sophomore guard Ronnie Rousseau III contributed 18 points, dished out a team-high seven assists and registered a team-high two steals. Freshman guard Willie Jimerson Jr. added another double double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Craig McKenzie Jr. pitched in 11 points.

"We bent, but we didn't break," said Thomas. "We were able to get some key stops and rebounded the ball well, especially against Three Rivers' bigger size advantage. We got a lot of second chance shots. Willie got 13 rebounds from the point guard position. When you get victories like this, especially this time of year, it does nothing but help the team in the long run."

SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 9, when they travel to West Plains for another big region and conference contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
