Roadrunners defeat Grizzlies

The Roadrunners got back on track Wednesday night, Jan. 20, by defeating the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies 73-70 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus. SFCC (13-5, 2-1 in Region 16, 3-1 in the MCCAC) started the game on a 16-8 run. That was the largest lead held by either team in the contest.

"We came out and made some shots," said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "We got some offense out of our transition game. West Plains is a good team. They hung in there and weathered the storm. They made their run and got back into the game."

The score was tied at 32 at halftime. The game featured 12 lead changes and 11 ties. SFCC made enough plays down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Sophomore forward Clint Robinson led his team in scoring with 31 points. He pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and registered a team-high three blocked shots. Sophomore guard Ronnie Rousseau III contributed 20 points. Freshman guard Willie Jimerson Jr. dished out a team-high 10 assists in the contest and also tied for team-high honors in steals with freshman guard Asem Johnson with two each.

"I thought Clint came up with some big buckets," said Thomas. "Our guys did a good job of getting him the ball, and he delivered for us. Willie made some great plays tonight. He was able to create off the dribble."

SFCC will hit the road for the first time this season in Region 16 play on Saturday, Jan. 23, when they travel to Park Hills to take on the Mineral Area College Cardinals in a key region and conference contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
