Roadrunners Fall In Battle of Ranked Teams

The Roadrunners traveled to Council Bluffs, Iowa, Dec. 1 to take on Iowa Western Community College. SFCC (11-2) and ranked number 20 in the first regular season NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball rankings fell to the 15th-ranked Reivers 101-88.

SFCC led 12-5 early in the game courtesy of a dunk from freshman guard Willie Jimerson Jr. The Reivers stormed back to tie the game at 12. Iowa Western led 42-40 at halftime and took control of the game in the final few minutes to win the game. The contest featured 11 lead changes and eight ties.

"Our defense has been improving," said Thomas. "We did a good job of contesting shots early in the game but we lost our momentum."

Sophomore guard Ronnie Rousseau III led three Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 33 points. Jimerson just missed a double double with 16 points and nine rebounds and also dished out a team-high four assists. Freshman guard William Jones contributed 10 points and led the team in steals with three. Sophomore forward Clint Robinson registered two blocked shots.

"We have about a week to prepare for Southeastern Community College (SCC)," said Thomas. "We need to pay attention to the scouting report and keep working on our defense." The Roadrunners will return to action Dec. 9 when they play SCC at 7:30 p.m. in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose on the Sedalia campus.
