Roadrunners Win Conference Opener

Roadrunners Win Conference Opener

The Roadrunners won the opening game of their Missouri Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) schedule Nov. 24, defeating the St. Louis Community College Archers in St. Louis. SFCC (9-1, 1-0 in MCCAC) won the game 74-56.

"We played really hard for about five minutes late in the first half," said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "We were able to get some stops defensively. Clint Robinson hit a couple three-point shots and we extended the lead to double digits. We were able to keep them at bay from there. That five-minute stretch was the key to the game."

Robinson led three Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 18 points. He also pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds and tied for the team lead in steals with two. Ronnie Rousseau III added 17 points and tied for the team lead in steals with two. Willie Jimerson Jr. registered a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists.

SFCC will play in the Moberly Classic Nov. 27–28. The Roadrunners will take on Highland Community College-Illinois on Friday and Malcolm X College on Saturday. Tipoff for both games is scheduled for 3 p.m.
