Roadrunners Sweep Stone Laser Imaging Classic

The Roadrunners got off to a quick start Nov. 14 defeating the Malcolm X College Hawks from Chicago 90-76. The game was part of the Stone Laser Imaging Classic at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.

SFCC (7-0) led 36-12 early in the half and took a 44-28 lead into halftime.

"We made some shots early on," said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "Malcolm X seemed a little flat. We struggled a bit in the second half and were fortunate to get the win."

Sophomore guard Ronnie Rousseau III led four Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 29 points, including 10 of 10 from the free-throw line. He also knocked down five three-point shots. Sophomore guard Joshua Bailey contributed 21 points and led in assists with six. Sophomore forward Clint Robinson registered a double double with 14 points and a team-leading 16 rebounds. Freshman guard William Jones pitched in with 11 points. Freshman guard Willie Jimerson Jr. tied with Rousseau for the team lead in steals with two. Freshman guard Craig McKenzie Jr. led in blocked shots with four.

Robinson was named Stone Laser Imaging Classic Most Valuable Player. Rousseau and Bailey joined him on the All-Classic team.

"Josh shot the ball well," said Thomas. "Clint rebounded the ball well and did a lot of good things on the inside. Ronnie had 10 assists last night and scored the ball well for us all weekend."

SFCC will hit the road Nov. 20-21 to participate in the Coffeyville Classic in Coffeyville, Kansas. The Roadrunners will take on Cowley County Community College at 5 p.m. Friday and Coffeyville Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
