Roadrunners Fall at St. Louis Community College

The Roadrunners lost a disappointing game to the St. Louis Community College Archers Jan. 10 in St. Louis by a score of 106-61. The game was part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule.

SFCC found itself in a hole early, trailing 37-10 with about six minutes remaining in the first half. The Archers knocked down seven three-point shots in the first half and led 49-19 at halftime.

"St. Louis played really hard," said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "We struggled to make shots. Some of that was their defense, some of that was our doing. It was the first road game for all of our guys except for Ryan Surface and Josh Bailey. With a long bus trip, you have to learn how to get yourself ready to play. Hopefully, that experience will help our guys the next time we go on the road."

Freshman guard Bailey led three Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 30 points and also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman guard Spencer Ruckman contributed 14 points. Freshman wing Surface pitched in with 11 points. Four Roadrunners tied for the team lead in assists with two each. Ruckman and freshman guard Borden Edgar tied for the team lead in steals with two.

The Roadrunners will return to Region 16 play Jan. 14 when they take on the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds at 7 p.m. in Moberly.
