Joe Peabody

Joe Peabody, a native of Balwin, Wis., was a member of SFCC’s 1978-1979 Rodeo Team. In 1979 the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) named Peabody Outstanding Participant, as well as All-Around Cowboy Champion for the Ozark Region. He went on to win Men’s All-Around Champion at the 1978-1979 NIRA national championship after competing in all six men’s events (bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, and team roping). He and his teammates competed against colleges and universities of all sizes, since there was no classification based on student population. Peabody, a 1979 graduate of SFCC, earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and received a doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1988. He practices in Lake Geneva, Wis.
