State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher has announced the addition of three student-athletes. Jakyah Amous, Amaya Coakley and Eliyah Howard have all signed their National Letters Of Intent and will begin their academic and athletic careers at SFCC in the fall.
Amous is a 6'1'' center who played her high school basketball at Lindblom Math and Science Academy in Chicago, Illinois. She averaged 19.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as a senior.
"Jakyah is a center who can actually shoot the ball outside," said Bucher. "She will provide us some much-needed size and she can actually handle the ball a little bit for her size. She is a younger player for her class. We are extremely excited to have Jakyah in our program. She will be able to do a lot of things before her career is over."
Coakley is a 5'8'' guard who played at Robert M. Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas, where she averaged 18.6 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 4.3 steals per game as a senior.
"Amaya is a fast athlete," said Bucher." In high school, she went to state in five events in track and field. She is a good defensive player and we are fortunate to add her to our program. Amaya had a lot of schools recruiting her, not only in basketball, but also in track and field."
Howard is a 5'4'' point guard who played at Liberty-Eylau High School in Texarkana, Texas, where she averaged 18.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 5.6 assists per game.
"She is a very good deep three-point shooter," said Bucher. "She is fast and athletic. Eliyah is a tenacious defender, who can pass and explode offensively. She had a handful of games where she scored more than 30 points."
