Watkins Announces College Choice

State Fair Community College (SFCC) sophomore guard/forward Connor Watkins of Charleston will continue her academic and athletic career at Texas A&M International University, a Division II University in Laredo, Texas and a member of the Lone Star Conference.

Watkins played in all 29 games in her one season at SFCC starting in 22. She finished third on the team in free-throw percentage at 69.8, in three-point field goal percentage at 32.4, and in assists per game with 2.3. Watkins also averaged seven points per game and pulled down 4.8 rebounds, which placed her fourth on the team.

Watkins scored a SFCC career high 23 points in a victory over Southeastern Community College. She knocked down nine of her 10 field-goal attempts in the game, along with all five of her three-point attempts.

"Connor is the type of player that Texas A&M International look for in their guard oriented offense," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "They love tall, lanky, and athletic guards who can shoot the three-point shot.  I know they are very excited to have Connor join their program. I have enjoyed having Connor and her family be a part of the State Fair Lady Roadrunner basketball family and I wish her the very best."
