Roadrunners Compete in Maryville

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners finished fifth as a team in their second tournament of the fall season with a team score of 890 over the two-day event. The event took place on Oct. 5-6 at Mozingo Lake Golf Club in Maryville, Missouri. It was part of the National Collegiate Club Golf Association Central Region.

Hayden Brogdon led the charge for SFCC finishing fourth individually with a total score of 151. He shot 75 on the first day and 76 on the second day to finish seven over par for the tournament. Kendall Weymuth finished in a tie for 25th with a total score of 172. He shot an 85 on day one and an 87 on day two. Tucker Williams finished in a tie for 33rd with a total score of 182. He shot a 92 in the first round and a 90 in the second round. Brenden Bauer placed in a tie for 42nd with a total score of 192. He shot a 98 in the first round and a 94 in second round. Brandon Plummer finished 44th with a two round total of 193. He shot a 96 in the first round and followed that up with a 97 in round two.

"I am very happy with how Hayden finished," said Roadrunners Head Coach Wayne Ogle. "He is a good player and will continue to shoot well and get even better.  With just a little luck, he could have been three or four shots better, as he had multiple chips that lipped out and failed to convert on two par fives, while being right next to the green in two."

I am also very happy with how Kendall Weymuth played and how his attitude is on the golf course.  He has made great strides in keeping an even temperament.  He did have one celebratory outburst after pitching in for par on hole one day two, which was awesome! He did a great job in giving himself the opportunity to still save par, after a not so great tee shot. This team is working hard and each player has things we are working on for them to play better."

The Roadrunners will return to competition Oct. 26-27 at Eagle Knoll Golf Club in Hartsburg, Missouri for

the final event of the fall.
