SFCC Spirit Squad and Dance Team Announce Newcomers

State Fair Community College (SFCC) Spirit Squad Head Coach Dana Page has announced the addition of 10 new members to the squad for the upcoming 2019-2020 academic school year.

The 10 newest Roadrunners are Appalachian Bowman, Dixon High School; Emily Humphry and Avery Rost both of Van-Far High School; Keirsten Lorenz, Green Ridge High School; Summer McBryar, Sweet Springs High School; Bailey Mitchell, Hallsville High School; Kaylee Morgan, Blair Oaks High School; Bryonna Murphy, Chillicothe High School; Caitlyn Skaggs, Smithton High School; and Delaney Thornburgh of Smith-Cotton High School.

"We have ten newcomers on this year's Spirit Squad," said Head Coach Dana Page. "Emily Humphry and Avery Rost are from Van-Far High School and both have exceptional talent. We have a lot of all-around good cheerleaders, including several with competition experience. Cheerleaders who come in with that competitive experience are used to spending more time in practice and putting forth the extra effort it takes to be successful. We also have local kids who we are excited about that have some experience and stunting ability. Summer McBryar from Sweet Springs possesses good strength and jumping ability and comes from a great cheer program."

The Spirit Squad will hold two practice sessions this summer prior to the start of camp later this month. The squad will go to a Universal Cheer Association Camp in St. Louis July 27-29 to end their summer preparation.

"We are really looking forward to going to camp," said Page. "It will be a good opportunity for the girls to bond together."

At this time, the SFCC Roadettes have four members for next season. The members are Nichole Moore, Fort Zumwalt High School; Abigail Smith, Knob Noster High School; Allison Eppenauer, Smith-Cotton High School; and Dani Read of Smith-Cotton High School, who joins the Roadettes after being a part of the Spirit Squad last season.

"The three freshmen that Coach (Taylor) Johnson has coming in to the dance team have a lot of dance experience," said Page. "Each dancer kind of brings a different style. I think that when we put it together, there will be a lot of talent out there to entertain our crowd."

The Roadettes have the same summer schedule as the Spirit Squad. They will attend the Universal Dance Association Camp July 27-29 in St. Louis.
