Three more student-athletes join Lady Roadrunners

State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher has recruited three more student-athletes for the 2019-2020 roster. Nadia Thorman-McKey, Hannah Ofori-Nuamah and Paula Barrientos have all signed National Letters of Intent.

Thorman-McKey is a 5'11" guard/forward from Evanston, Illinois. She is transferring from Roosevelt University, an NAIA university in Chicago. She averaged 10.6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference named her Freshman of the Year and Conference Player of the Week while at Roosevelt. In high school, Thorman-McKey played basketball at Evanston Township for Head Coach Brittanny Johnson and was on the honor roll all four years.

"Nadia is very athletic," said Bucher. "We are excited about adding her speed and experience to our program. She wants to compete and play at a higher level. She brings all the qualities that we look for in a player who fits our style of play, and I know she's excited to be here."

Ofori-Nuamah is a 6'3'' center from Silver Spring, Maryland. She played basketball at Springbrook High School for Head Coach Joia Daniels where she averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds and blocked 4 shots per game as a senior. The Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association awarded Ofori-Nuamah the Minds in Motion Award. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity presented her the Achievement and Versatility Award of Excellence.

"I really like her length," said Bucher. "We need more size to compete against the other teams in our region. She will help extend our pressure defense and has good hands. Hannah wants to continue improving, and I look forward to watching her develop. We are glad that she chose to attend SFCC."

Barrientos is a 5'6'' guard who played basketball at Miami Christian School in Miami, Florida, for Head Coach Yahveh Silva. As a senior, she averaged 15 points, 8 assists and 4 steals per game. Barrientos helped her team to a 2A Regional Championship as a senior.

"Paula represented Chile in the FIBA South American U17 Championship for Women in 2017 and in the FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship in 2018," said Bucher. "She has international experience. She can shoot and pass the ball well and plays under control."
