Lady Roadrunners Cross Country to feature Davis, six newcomers

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners Cross Country team is preparing for the second season in the program's history. The 2022 team will be led by returning All-Region performer Korry Davis. Davis will lead a group of six newcomers.

"Korry understands what is expected and understands how much work it takes," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "I can tell you that Korry is extremely excited to share her training experience and have someone new to work with. It has been good for her."

The newcomers to this year's roster include Laura Beach, Breanna James, Tanner Maggard, Madelyn McBride, Savanna Tracy, and Kara Van Vleck.

Coach Hagedorn is excited with what he has seen so far in practice.

"I could not have asked for better," said Hagedorn. "Our training outside has been going very well. We are working hard in the weight room. They are adapting well to what it is we need to do. They are hungry to learn and work. I am excited."

SFCC will face a challenging schedule once again this season.

SFCC will open the season Sept. 2 with the SBU Bearcat Cross Country Invitational in Bolivar. SFCC will travel to the Southern Stampede in Joplin Sept. 17, before closing the month at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas Sept. 30. SFCC will travel to Ottumwa, Iowa for the Indian Hills Community College Invitational Oct. 14. The Region 16 Cross Country Championships will take place Oct. 28 in St. Charles. The NJCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships will be held Nov. 12 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Coach Hagedorn has some goals he would like to see the Lady Roadrunners accomplish this season.

"We want to challenge for the Region Championship," said Hagedorn. "We would also like to have an extremely good showing at the National Championships in November. To have an opportunity to do those things, we have to stay healthy. We want to be able to train and keep everyone healthy."
