Queathem records top finish for SFCC at NJCAA Outdoor Nationals

The State Fair Community College track and field national qualifiers wrapped up their season at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico on May 18-20.

Lady Roadrunners freshman Samantha Queathem finished in seventh place in the javelin with a throw of 38.00 meters to score two points for the Lady Roadrunners.

Freshman Keiyah Cole finished 28th in the 200m with a time of 26.58. Cole finished 29th in the 100m with a time of 12.85.

Roadrunners sophomore Logan Shaw finished 27th in the 10,000m with a time of 39:42.35. Sophomore Wyatt Irwin did not clear the opening height in the high jump.

"It was a tough three days in Hobbs," said Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "The weather would not cooperate. We were rained out twice canceling the day and pushing the schedule. Samantha, Keiya, Wyatt, and Logan represented our school amazingly. Each student-athlete showed why their character makes them special. While Logan and Wyatt concluded their time here at State Fair, Keiya and Sam gained valuable experience for their return next year. We would like to congratulate Samantha Queathem for finishing 7th in the javelin and earning USTFCCCA All American."
