Lady Roadrunners pick up pair of victories

Sept. 26 Evangel University at Springfield

The No. 18 ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners picked up a 3-0 win over Evangel University on Monday, Sept. 26 in Springfield.

SFCC got on the scoreboard in the 47th minute courtesy of a goal from sophomore Sabra Moon with an assist from sophomore Mariela Rodriguez. SFCC scored again with a goal from Rodriguez, courtesy of an assist from sophomore Natalie Muela in the 51st minute. The Lady Roadrunners finished the scoring with a goal from freshman Adamaris Ramirez with an assist from freshman Maria Decker in the 60th minute.

"It was a hard game," said Lady Roadrunners Associate Head Coach Roberto Tucker. "Evangel started the game attacking a lot. We got a lot of touches in the back and were able to control the game. We connected better with our midfielders and our forwards. We created a lot of chances. We played a lot of players in this game and rested some players in the second half."

Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Mosher picked up the shutout for SFCC. Mosher made nine saves.

As a team, SFCC recorded 12 shots; six of which were on goal. Ramirez took a team-high three shots.

Sept. 29 Missouri Valley College at Sedalia

The 18th ranked Lady Roadrunners (7-2-2) picked up a 3-0 shutout victory over Missouri Valley College on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia.

SFCC scored the opening goal of the match on a penalty kick from Muela. SFCC took the 1-0 advantage into halftime.

SFCC scored again with less than 25 minutes remaining in the contest with a goal from Rodriguez, with an assist from sophomore Briscia Zuniga. SFCC scored again with under 18 minutes remaining in the contest with a goal from Ramirez, with an assist from sophomore Jessica Valladares to provide winning margin.

As a team, SFCC took 14 shots, four of them were on target. Zuniga took a team-high five shots.

"We got to play both of our goalkeepers and a lot of our field players said Tucker. "I was happy with that. We want to continue to play quickly in transition and apply what we do in practice to games."

Mosher and freshman goalkeeper Nayeli Lopez combined to earn the shutout in goal. Mosher recorded four saves and Lopez had three saves.
