Lady Roadrunners shutout Missouri Valley to extend program record

The 18th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners picked up a 3-0 victory over Missouri Valley College on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia.

SFCC (9-3-1) got on the scoreboard with less than 24 minutes remaining in the opening half courtesy of a goal from freshman midfielder Ally Woolery, with an assist from freshman midfielder Andrea Ramirez. SFCC held the advantage into halftime.

SFCC drew a foul inside the penalty box that resulted in a penalty kick, where Ramirez placed the shot perfectly in the lower corner to extend the advantage with about 34 minutes remaining in the match. Ramirez finished the scoring, with a first touch volley with 25 minutes and 21 seconds remaining in the game, off an assist from sophomore defender Natalie Clarke.

"Our team has made a lot of progress in the last two seasons," said Lady Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "I'm really proud of the girls. They are playing hard."

Woolery took a team-high seven shots, four of which were on target.

Freshman goalkeeper Savannah Romero made five saves to earn yet another shutout.
