April 3 St. Charles Community College at Cottleville, Missouri
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners opened their season and Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule with a 1-0 victory over the 11th-ranked St. Charles Community College Cougars on Saturday, April 3 in Cottleville, Missouri.
SFCC picked up the only goal of the match in the second half when forward Carly Roberts of Higginsville found the back of the net off a pass from midfielder Skyler Sweezor of Linn Creek. Roberts recorded three of the teams' five shots in the match.
"Our team battled through the entire game," said SFCC Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "It was a good back-and-forth game. Our defense did an excellent job. They were able to keep the shots that St. Charles had to a minimum. We were happy to be able to break through."
Alexandra Herring of Oak Grove got the start in goal for SFCC and recorded three saves.
