Southwestern Illinois defeats SFCC

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners played host to Southwestern Illinois College in a women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15. SFCC (2-7-2) fell by a score of 4-0.

Southwestern Illinois opened the scoring with a goal off of free kick at the 31-minute and 22-second mark of the opening half. They added another goal to take a 2-0 lead into halftime and added two more goals in the second half.

"That might've been one of our better soccer games," said Lady Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Eddie Horn. "I know it's not reflected in the score, but at times, we were actually pretty good as far as connecting passes. We were able to carry over some of the things that we've been doing in training to the game, and that was encouraging."

SFCC will host the Central Methodist junior varsity in their final regular-season match on Thursday, Oct. 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Sports Complex west of the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
