Maple Woods shuts out SFCC

The SFCC Lady Roadrunners returned home Sept. 22 to take on the Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods Lady Monarchs. SFCC (1-3-2, 0-2-1 in Region 16) fell by a score of 3-0.

Maple Woods got on the scoreboard in about the seventh minute. They followed with another goal in the 10th minute. Maple Woods added the final goal in the 85th minute.

"There were moments when this was probably the best soccer that we have played so far this season," said Lady Roadrunners Head Soccer Coach Eddie Horn. "Maddie Davidson was good in the middle of the field swinging the ball from side to side and changing the point of attack for us. Our two center backs Sarah Garcia and Brie Bullock were able to swing it through the back four. From a soccer playing perspective, we did some good things. The disappointing part of the game was that we didn't get started fast enough."

SFCC will be back on the field 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, when they take on Kaskaskia College at the Soccer Complex west of the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
