Lady Roadrunners fall at Columbia College

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners soccer team was defeated 7-0 in a scrimmage against Columbia College on Aug. 20, but Coach Horn was pleased with some of the things he saw in the game despite the score.

"When I look inside the game and see the progress we made, I believe it was real positive," said Horn. "The score was 2-0 at halftime, and we were a little bit unfortunate on the two goals we gave up the first half. Our defending shape was good and somewhat limited Columbia College's scoring chances. I felt good at halftime as far as the effort our players were giving, the understanding of the concepts that we've been working on in practice and our ability to apply them in a game situation."

The Lady Roadrunners will open their regular season at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at St. Charles Community College. This will be the first regular season game in program history for the Lady Roadrunners soccer team, as well as the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference and Region 16 opener for SFCC.

"St. Charles won the region last year," said Horn. "It will be a tall task on the road, but I am ready to start the season, and I think the women are too."
