Lady Roadrunners compete at Central District Golf Tournament

Two members of the State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners golf team competed at the NJCAA Division I Women's Central District Tournament at the par 72 Twin Hills Golf and Country Club in Joplin on April 22-23.

Ava Kirkpatrick and Marlee Andrews competed individually for SFCC. Kirkpatrick had the best finish, with scores of 97 in round one and 101 in round two, for a total of 198 to finish 19th. Andrews shot a 96 in the opening round and followed that up with a 105 in round two for a total of 201 to finish 20th.

"This year was full of challenges," said Head Coach Wayne Ogle. "Ava and Marlee both stuck with it and played some very good golf. Ava had an in-competition personal record and Marlee showed improvements physically and mentally. We spent many hours while traveling talking about how to have fun and not let the scores, or shots alter their mood. This last event was hosted on the longest golf course we had seen, and we played in some fairly windy conditions both rounds. They both had two great days and learned a lot about golf."
