Lady Roadrunners extend season opening winning streak to five

Nov. 10 Kansas Wesleyan University Junior Varsity in Iola, Kansas

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners opened their portion of the Red Devil Classic with an 87-33 victory over Kansas Wesleyan University Junior Varsity on Friday, Nov. 10. Every player on the roster for SFCC saw action. The victory was the fourth consecutive to open the season for SFCC.

SFCC used another good defensive effort to hold Kansas Wesleyan to single digit scoring in three of four quarters. The Lady Roadrunners led 21-8 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

Sophomore center Jaida Shipp led the team in scoring with 18 points off the bench. Freshman forward Briar Cox contributed 11 points. Sophomore guard Tanila Marshall led the team in rebounds with 10. Freshman guard Nakayla Green recorded a team-high five assists. Freshman guard Violeta Rojas Narváez had a team-high four steals. Freshman forward Olivia Angerer led the team with four blocked shots.

Nov.11 Mid America Nazarene University Junior Varsity in Iola, Kansas

SFCC (5-0) closed their portion of the Red Devil Classic with a 75-48 victory over MidAmerica Nazarene Junior Varsity on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 11 in Iola, Kansas.

SFCC used a balanced offensive attack to secure their fifth win in a row.

Freshman guard Myra Claas led the team in scoring with 14 points. Shipp contributed 13 points off the bench. Marshall scored 11 points. Freshman guard La'Tommas Johnson-Nash pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Freshman guard Madison Johnson had a team-high three assists and led the team in steals with five.
