Lady Roadrunners fall in Region 16 Quarterfinal

The sixth-seeded State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners saw their season come to an end with a 67-54 loss to the third-seeded Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals on Thursday night, March 2 in Park Hills.

SFCC (13-16) trailed 20-14 at the end of the first quarter, before Mineral Area extended the advantage to 32-25 at halftime. The Lady Cardinals led at the end of three quarters 52-40.

SFCC refused to go away with their season on the line. The Lady Roadrunners trimmed the deficit to 54-47 with seven minutes and 25 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. SFCC had chances to get closer, but Mineral Area went on a run to seal the victory.

Freshman forward Jaida Shipp led SFCC with 18 points. Shipp pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and led the team with two steals. Sophomore guards Kayla Dooley and Paige Spencer tied for the team lead with three assists each.
