SFCC wins two of three at Region 16 Classic

Dec. 2 - Mineral Area College, Hillsboro, Missouri

The Lady Roadrunners opened their portion of the Region 16 Classic with a 71-64 loss to the Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals. The event was hosted by Jefferson College in Hillsboro.

SFCC jumped out to an early 11-2 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Mineral Area trimmed the deficit to a 15-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. At halftime, the Lady Cardinals led 33-30. SFCC continued to battle but fell short.

Sophomore guard Biance Stocks led SFCC in scoring with 17 points and tied for the team lead in assists with freshman guard Perryauna Youmans and sophomore forward Autumn Wallace with two each. Stocks and Youmans tied for the team lead in steals with two. Wallace recorded a double-double with 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Freshman forward Jaida Shipp and freshman forward Aiyanna Tanksley added 12 points each.

Dec. 3 - Jefferson College, Hillsboro

SFCC picked up their first Region 16 win with a 78-74 victory over Jefferson College.

SFCC led 17-13 at the end of the first quarter and took a 37-32 lead into halftime. SFCC hung on to a five-point advantage after three quarters and held on to win.

Tanksley registered a double-double with 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead SFCC in both categories. Shipp contributed 16 points. Wallace added 12 points. Sophomore guard Kayla Dooley led in assists with four. Youmans registered a team-high three steals.

Dec. 4 - Crowder College, Hillsboro

SFCC (9-4, 2-3 in Region 16) closed the Region 16 Classic with a hard-fought 73-71 victory over Crowder College.

SFCC stormed out to 17-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Crowder cut the deficit to 37-33 at halftime. SFCC hung on to a one-point advantage at the end of three quarters and for a critical victory.

SFCC only played seven players in the contest. Freshman guard Kylee Ash led in scoring with 16 points. Wallace chipped in 15 points. Tanksley added 11 points. Shipp pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds and blocked a team-high three shots. Youmans dished out a team-high eight assists.

"I thought we competed this weekend," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Nicole Collier. "We got off to good starts in all three of our games. We are battling some injuries right now. We were able to grind through the weekend and pick up a couple of victories."
