Jan. 19 Mineral Area College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners lost a hard-fought 66-62 Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference game to the Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on Wednesday night, Jan. 19.

SFCC controlled the game for the first two quarters taking a 34-24 lead into halftime.

"I thought we had a really good game plan going into the game," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Nicole Collier. "I thought we did a good job in our assignments, covering up the corners and staying with our man. We stuck with the game plan the first quarter which built up a pretty good lead. I thought we finished the second quarter at a decent clip."

Mineral Area outscored SFCC 28-9 in the third quarter to take their first lead of the contest. Mineral Area led 41-39 with less than four minutes remaining and pushed the advantage to 52-43 at the end of the third quarter.

"In the third quarter, we gave up a bunch of open three-point shots," said Collier. "We became very undisciplined on defense. We gave them some easy looks and some momentum."

The Lady Roadrunners tried to fight their way back in the final quarter, but Mineral Area made enough plays down the stretch to secure the victory.

Freshman forward Quincenia Jackson registered another double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead SFCC in both categories. Jackson also blocked a shot. Freshman guard Kayla Dooley contributed 12 points. Freshman guard Paige Spencer had four assists, a team-high and tied for the team lead in steals with freshman forward Autumn Wallace with two.

Jan. 22 Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff, Missouri

SFCC (7-10, 3-5 in Region 16) dropped a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference game to the second ranked Three Rivers Community College Lady Raiders 90-43 in Poplar Bluff on Saturday, Jan. 22.

The Lady Roadrunners trailed 25-14 at the end the first quarter and 44-22 at halftime. SFCC struggled to handle the Lady Raiders defensive pressure.

"We played their style of basketball," said Collier. "They want to get out and run in transition and push the ball. We had some easy looks at the rim. We talked a lot about controlling the tempo of the game and I don't think we did a good job in that area. Three Rivers applied a lot of pressure and we just didn't handle it well."

Jackson registered a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the team in both categories. Jackson also led the team in steals with four and in assists with three. Wallace pulled down 10 rebounds.
