Lady Roadrunners Win Third Straight Game

The 13th-ranked Lady Roadrunners used a big second quarter to defeat the Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley Lady Scouts from Kansas City 72-48 Nov. 10 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. SFCC (5-1) outscored Penn Valley 26-10 in the second quarter to take a 40-21 lead into halftime.

"The second quarter was major for us," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "It seems like our second unit comes in and lifts us up. We were able to start pressing and trapping with that group, which helped us reach the pace we needed to play well."

Sophomore forward Thelma Williams led four Lady Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 14 points. Freshman guards Danae' Cole and Alexis Cowan and sophomore guard Zhanesha Dickerson all chipped in with 10 points. Dickerson pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds to finish her double-double and also dished out a team-high three assists. Freshman center Kendra Boone and Cole tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two. Freshman forward Kiante Johnson led in steals with three.

The Lady Roadrunners will be back on the court Nov. 13 when they host Cloud County Community College as part of the Stone Laser Imaging Classic. They will close out their portion of the classic against Central Community College-Columbus Nov. 14. Tipoff both nights is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
