The Lady Roadrunners traveled to Overland Park, Kansas, to take part in the Midwest Juco Jamboree Oct. 23. The scrimmages consisted of a 24-minute first half and a 20-minute second half with a running clock that only stopped in the final minute of the second half.
SFCC took on the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers from Overland Park, Kansas, in its first scrimmage. The Lady Roadrunners led by three or four points at halftime and won by five points in the second half.
"Zhanesha Dickerson played well," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "Seara Clayborn and Sierra Clayborn also played pretty well. It was a good effort all the way around. Our defensive pressure and intensity were there."
The Lady Roadrunners took on the Independence Community College Pirates from Independence, Kansas, in their second scrimmage. SFCC won the first half by 20 points, but Independence won the second half after the Lady Roadrunners missed a three-point shot at the buzzer.
"We played well in that game," said Bucher. "It was a very high-energy game; our team was really fun to watch. Zhanesha Dickerson and Alexis Cowan played really well. A lot of different players made good contributions."
In the third and final scrimmage, SFCC took on the Highland Community College-Kansas Scotties from Highland, Kansas. SFCC trailed by three points at halftime but fought back to win the second half by seven points.
