Roadrunners wrap-up fall semester

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) shooting sports team wrapped up the fall semester at the National Collegiate Shooting Sports Athletic Association Qualifier on Friday through Sunday, November fourth through the sixth in Wichita, Kansas.

The event consisted of three different disciplines, 100 American Trap, 100 American Skeet, and 100 Sporting Clays.

"NJ McKenzie shot a 96 in American Skeet," said Head Coach Sarah Manuel. "That was a very nice performance from him. Connor Hess shot a 98 in America Trap. Those are very good scores but, the competition was made up of all types of colleges and universities, even though we did post some high scores, we weren't on the podium this weekend."

"Arthur Sims shot his first 25 In American Skeet which is a perfect round," said Manuel. "It happened on his birthday, which was a highlight for him. He shot an 88 In American Skeet. I'm very proud of him for buckling down and doing some mental practice."

SFCC has 13 student-athletes who qualified for the NCSSAA Championship, which will happen in March in Las Vegas, Nevada. McKenzie, Anthony Walls, Hess, Braiden McEachern, and Hunter Snow have all qualified in American Trap, American Skeet and Sporting Clays. Will VanVactor, Matthew Richardson, Ben Engemann, Daniel Younger-Losing, Aidan Meyer, Philip Crawford, Arthur Sims, and Justin Duenke have all have qualifying scores in at least one of the three events.

The competition in Wichita was the last for the shooting sports team until they reconvene after the first of the year.
