SFCC Shooting Sports opens season

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) shooting sports team had their first shoot off of the 2022-2023 season against William Woods University at the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club on Wednesday, September 7.

Trap shooting was the only competitive event, with each participant shooting 100 trap birds. SFCC had a top-five squad of NJ McKenzie, Will VanVactor, Daniel Younger-Losing, Connor Hess, and Braiden McEachern. They shot 483 out of 500. McKenzie was the top male athlete with an individual score of 98. SFCC also had the top female shooter Paiton Williams, who shot an individual score of 87.

"It was a great warm-up to prepare us for Drury," said SFCC Head Coach Sarah Manuel. "The kids had a lot of fun. The first competition is always a little bit scary, but I think it settled the kids pretty well."
