Lady Roadrunners win three of four during special weekend

April 10 St. Charles Community College at Cottleville

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners split two Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games with St. Charles Community College. SFCC lost game one 10-6 before bouncing back to win game two 14-11 on Wednesday, April 10 in Cottleville, Missouri.

In game one, utility player Bailey Haselhorst recorded three hits (a team-high) to go along with three runs and two RBIs. Outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey had a home run and a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Middle infielder Sami Picha had two hits, including a double and one RBI. Catcher Paige Klinge had two hits and an RBI. Outfielder Becca Hall also had two hits, including a double.

Pitcher Grace VanDenburgh got the start and gave up no runs on three hits, struck out three and walked one in three innings. Charlee Reese came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings, gave up 10 runs (six earned runs) on 11 hits and walked one.

In game two, middle infielder/outfielder Emily Burke had four hits, including two doubles to lead SFCC. Burke also contributed three RBIs and two runs scored. Winfrey registered two triples, a run scored and an RBI. First baseman/second Danika Sickle added a double, a run scored and an RBI. Klinge doubled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Picha hit a home run, scored three times, and had two RBIs. Pitcher/first baseman Kiara Sodini also hit a home run and drove in two runs. Hall had a hit, scored two runs and drove in one. Catcher/third baseman Lia Hill had a hit and an RBI. Utility player Bella Ochoa scored two runs and drove in one.

Pitcher/utility player Aireanna Hoeppner got the start and. Hoeppner pitched four innings, gave up seven runs on nine hits, struck out two and walked four. Reese pitched three innings, gave up four runs (two earned runs) on four hits, struck out two and walked one.

April 11 East Central College at Sedalia

SFCC swept a Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader by scores of 8-5 and 7-6 against East Central College on Thursday, April 11 at Mandy Thomas Field in Sedalia.

In game one, Winfrey had two hits, including a home run and four RBIs to go along with two runs scored. Hill had two hits and two runs scored. Ochoa also had two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Third baseman Myla Inman hit a home run and drove in two runs. Klinge scored a run and drove in a run. Haselhorst and Ochoa each stole a base in the game.

Hoeppner got the start and gave up three runs (two earned runs) on five hits, struck out two and walked one in three innings. VanDenburgh pitched four innings out of the bullpen, gave up two unearned runs on five hits, struck out two and walked one.

In game two, Winfrey collected two hits, including a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Sickle had two hits, including a home run, an RBI and two runs scored. Middle infielder/outfielder Jordan Crooks had two hits and a run scored. Haselhorst hit a home run. Burke also hit a home run and drove in two runs. Outfielder Kaitlyn Maggard had a hit and drove in a run.

Sodini got the start and gave up six runs (one earned run), struck out two and walked five in six innings. VanDenburgh pitched one inning out of the bullpen and gave up one hit.

April 13 Metropolitan Community College at Sedalia

SFCC split a Region 16 doubleheader with Metropolitan Community College. SFCC dropped the first game 3-1 in eight innings. SFCC bounced back to win game two and earn the split 4-1 at Mandy Thomas Field on Saturday, April 13 in Sedalia. The Lady Roadrunners celebrated sophomore day and honored alumni between games.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to just six hits. Winfrey had two hits, including a double. Klinge had two hits, including an RBI. Haselhorst had a double and a run scored. Hall added a double and stole a base in the game.

Reese got the start and gave up five hits, one run and struck out seven in seven innings. Sodini pitched one inning in relief and gave up two runs on seven hits.

April 14 Mineral Area College at Sedalia

SFCC (23-21, 13-9 in Region 16) swept hard fought contests 11-10 and 9-8 against Mineral Area College at Mandy Thomas Field in Sedalia on Sunday, April 14. The games were part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams. The doubleheader was also part of the Strikeout Cancer fundraiser for SFCC.

Haselhorst had two hits, to go along with two RBIs and two runs scored. Winfrey also had two hits, including a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Picha had two hits and two RBIs. Hall had two hits and a run scored. Sodini doubled and scored a run. Crooks had two hits, including a double and scored three runs. Sickle hit a home run. Crooks also stole a base.

Hoeppner got the start and gave up seven runs (six earned runs) on seven hits, struck out one and walked six in four innings,. VanDenburgh came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings and gave up three unearned runs on two hits and struck out two.

In game two, Picha had three hits to lead the offensive attack for SFCC. Picha scored two runs and drove in one. Haselhorst contributed two hits and two runs scored. Sickle had two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. Hall had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Inman added a hit and two RBIs. Shortstop Maliah Kenney also drove in a run.

Sodini got the start and gave up eight runs (five earned runs) on five hits, struck out one and walked five in 4 1/3 innings,. VanDenburgh pitched 1 2/3 innings out of the bullpen, gave up four hits and struck out two. Reese pitched one inning and walked one.
