Lady Roadrunners earn first win of the season

February 23 Neosho County Community College at Chanute, Kansa

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners lost game one of a split doubleheader 5-0 to Neosho County Community College on Friday, February 23 in Neosho, Kansas.

The SFCC offense was held to two hits. First baseman/second baseman Danika Sickle and middle infielder Sami Picha recorded one hit each for SFCC. Outfielder Emily Anderson stole one base.

Pitcher  Charlee Reese got the start for SFCC. Reese pitched five innings, gave up five runs, four earned, on four hits and struck out four. Grace VanDenburgh pitched one inning in relief and gave up one hit.

February 23 Allen County Community College at Chanute, Kansas

SFCC lost game two of a split doubleheader 4-2 against Allen County Community College on Friday, February 23 in Chanute, Kansas.

Picha led the SFCC offense with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Outfielder Becca Hall had a hit and a run scored. Third baseman Myla Inman also recorded a hit in the game. Catcher Paige Klinge drove in a run. Hall stole a pair of bases in the game. Picha, outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey and Inman stole one each.

Pitcher/utility player Aireanna Hoeppner went the distance for SFCC and gave up four runs, three earned on five hits and struck out four.

February 24 Allen County Community College at Miami, Oklahoma

SFCC got the offense going in a 10-5 victory over Allen County Community College on Saturday, February 24 in Miami, Oklahoma. It was the first victory of the season for the Lady Roadrunners.

SFCC got their offense rolling with three hits, including a double and a triple from utility player Bailey Haselhorst. Haselhorst also scored three times. Inman contributed two hits, two RBIs and two runs. Middle infielder/outfielder Emily Burke had two hits, four RBIs and a run scored. Picha hit a home run, drove in four runs, and scored three times. Sickle had a pair of hits, including a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Middle infielder/outfielder Jordan Crooks drove in a pair of runs. As a team, SFCC put together 12 hits in the game.

VanDenburgh got the start for SFCC and gave up nine runs on 14 hits in 3 2/3 innings,. Reese came out of the bullpen for SFCC. Reese pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up one run on two hits and struck out two to earn the victory.

February 24 Neosho County Community College at Miami, Oklahoma

SFCC (1-7) fell in the final game of the weekend 9-6 to Neosho County Community College in Miami, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 24.

Klinge recorded a hit and a run scored. Inman had a double, a run scored and an RBI. Hall put together a hit, a run scored and two RBIs. Sickle had a double, a run scored and a run batted in. Shortstop Maliah Kenney recorded a hit and an RBI.

Pitcher/first baseman Kiara Sodini got the start for SFCC gave up eight runs on nine hits and struck out three in 4 2/3 innings. Hoeppner pitched 2 1/3 innings out of the bullpen and gave up one run on one hit and struck out two.
