SFCC softball season ends at Region 16 Championships

May 4 North Central Missouri College at Trenton

The fifth-seeded State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners fell to fourth-seeded North Central Missouri College in the opening game of the Region 16 Division I Softball Championships 6-2 on Thursday morning, May 4 in Trenton, Missouri.

Freshman outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey had two hits, a walk, and scored one run. Freshman shortstop Samantha Picha and sophomore outfielder Tomi Lightle had a hit each. Freshman catcher Paige Klinge had the only RBI for SFCC in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Kennidi Harris got the start and gave up six runs (five earned runs) on 10 hits, struck out one, and walked three in six innings,.

May 5 Jefferson College at Trenton

SFCC (15-31) saw their season come to an end with a 7-4 loss to the third-seeded Jefferson College in the Region 16 Division I Softball Championships 7-4 on Friday morning, May 5 in Trenton, Missouri.

SFCC scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Jefferson responded with seven unanswered runs to claim the victory to keep their season alive.

Freshman first baseman Paige Clines registered a double and a triple, to go along with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the SFCC offense. Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Alexis Hughes also had a pair of hits. Klinge had one hit and a run scored. Picha and freshman third baseman/outfielder Zoey DeHaas each scored a run in the game. Sophomore third baseman Kailei Allen recorded a hit. Lightle added a hit and an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Charlee Reese got the start for SFCC and gave up one run on two hits, struck out one, and walked six in four innings. Harris pitched three innings in relief, gave up six runs (one earned run), on six hits, and walked two.
