Lady Roadrunners softball closes regular season

April 24 Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners fell 11-3 in six innings because of the run rule and 8-1 to Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff on Monday, April 24. The doubleheader was part of the Region 16 schedule for both teams. Three Rivers is currently receiving votes in the national rankings.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to just two hits. Sophomore outfielder Tomi Lightle had a hit and two RBIs. Sophomore third baseman Kailei Allen had a hit and a run scored. Freshman shortstop Samantha Picha also scored a run, along with freshman first baseman Paige Clines

Sophomore pitcher Kennidi Harris got the start for SFCC and gave up four runs on six hits and walked two in three innings,. Sophomore pitcher Kaycee Thompson came out of the bullpen for SFCC and gave up seven runs on nine hits, struck out one and walked three in 2 2/3 innings,.

In game two, freshman outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey tripled and scored. Allen recorded a double. Freshman catcher Paige Klinge and sophomore third baseman Kelsey Webb had a hit each. Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Alexis Hughes had the only RBI in the contest for the Lady Roadruners.

Freshman pitcher Grace VanDenburgh got the start for SFCC and gave up seven runs on 10 hits, struck out two and walked one in five innings,. Sophomore pitcher Tabitha Imhoff gave up one unearned run on two hits in the final inning for SFCC.

April 25 Mineral Area College at Farmington

SFCC swept Mineral Area College 11-0 and 13-4 in Farmington on Tuesday, April 25 in a pair of Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games. Both games lasted five innings because of the run rule.

SFCC put together 12 hits as a team, including three home runs. Clines led the offensive attack with three hits, including a double, a run scored and an RBI. Webb walked twice, doubled and hit a home run, four RBIs and two runs. Freshman outfielder Samantha Queathem had a pair of hits, including a home run, scored a run and three RBIs. Allen also hit a home run and drove in two runs. Winfrey and Klinge scored two runs each.

Hughes gave up four hits and struck out three in a complete game shutout for SFCC.

In game two, the SFCC offense kept rolling, with 11 more hits. Webb recorded three hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Sophomore utility player Kailee Liles hit a home run and had six RBIs. Winfrey had two hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Queathem hit a home run, drove in a run, and scored a run for SFCC. Freshman third baseman/outfielder Zoey DeHaas doubled and scored twice. Freshman second baseman/outfielder Ava Hutchings scored three times in the game. Lightle scored twice.

Freshman pitcher Charlee Reese got the start for SFCC and gave up one run, walked three and struck out one in four innings,. Imhoff pitched one inning, gave up three runs (one earned run) on three hits.

April 27 Metropolitan Community College at Kansas City

SFCC (15-29) split a pair of Region 16 games against Metropolitan Community College dropping game one 10-2 in six innings, before bouncing back to win the second game 5-4 in Kansas City on Thursday, April 27.

In game one, SFCC was held to five hits. Winfrey recorded a double and drove in a run. Webb added a hit and an RBI. Clines recorded a hit. Allen and Picha also got in the hit column. Winfrey and Lightle scored a run each.

Harris got the start for SFCC and gave up eight runs (five earned) on nine hits, struck out two and walked four in 5 1/3 innings,. Thompson didn't record an out, gave up two runs on two hits.

In game two, Winfrey had a pair of hits, including a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Lightle also had two hits. Webb added two hits and an RBI. Sophomore catcher Makinzi Harris hit a home run and drove in two runs. Klinge, Queathem, and Hughes had a hit each. Queathem and Hughes scored a run each.

Reese got the start in the circle for SFCC. Reese pitched six innings, gave up four runs, (three earned) on nine hits and struck out three. Imhoff pitched the final inning and gave up two hits.
