Lady Roadrunners’ 8-game recap, 6 games remaining

April 16 - St. Charles Community College at Sedalia

The Lady Roadrunners split a pair of games against St. Charles Community College at Mandy Thomas Field inside Centennial Park. St. Charles won the opener 3-2 in eight innings. SFCC came back to earn the split with a 9-1 victory in five innings because of the run rule.

In game one, freshman shortstop Samantha Picha hit two doubles. Freshman third baseman/outfielder Zoey DeHaas had a pair of hits and an RBI. Sophomore outfielder Tomi Lightle hit a home run. Freshman outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey scored a run.

Sophomore Kennidi Harris got the start in the circle for SFCC. Harris pitched seven innings, gave up three runs on eight hits, struck out seven, and walked one. Sophomore Kaycee Thompson pitched one inning and allowed one hit.

In game two, the SFCC offense produced 11 hits as a team. Winfrey had two hits, including a home run, scored two runs, and had two RBIs. Pitcher/first baseman Alexis Hughes two hits, including a double, a run scored and an RBI. Freshman catcher Paige Klinge had two hits, including a home run, a run scored and two RBIs. DeHaas contributed a hit and two runs scored. Lightle added two hits, a run scored and two RBIs. Sophomore second baseman Kelsey Webb drove in a run.

Freshman Charlee Reese went the distance in the circle. Reese gave up one run on six hits and struck out two.

April 17 - St. Louis Community College at Sedalia

SFCC was swept by St. Louis Community College 9-3 in game one and 10-2 in five innings because of the run rule in game two. The games were part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule.

In game one, Winfrey had two hits and a run scored. Picha had two hits. Freshman first baseman Paige Clines hit a home run and drove in two runs. Webb scored a run.

Hughes got the start in the circle for SFCC and pitched two innings, gave up four runs on four hits, walked two, and struck out one. Sophomore Tabitha Imhoff pitched five innings in relief, gave up five runs (two earned runs) on seven hits, walked one, and struck out one.

In game two, the SFCC offense was limited to only six hits. Winfrey had two hits and a run scored. Webb had two hits and drove in a run. DeHaas had a hit and an RBI. Klinge had a hit. Hughes scored a run.

Reese pitched 1 1/3 innings in the start for SFCC. Reese gave up five runs (four earned runs) on three hits, struck out two, and walked two. Thompson came out of the bullpen to pitch the final 3 2/3 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out one.

"We had three runs in the first inning of game one and didn't score after that," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Michele Rupard. "We scored two runs in the first inning in game two and didn't score for the remainder of the game. It is difficult to win games when that happens. We made five errors in the doubleheader. St. Louis is a good team. We have also played 14 games in the last 10 days."

April 21 - Jefferson College at Hillsboro

SFCC lost a pair of Region 16 contests 7-1 and 7-0 to Jefferson College.

In game one, SFCC was held to four hits. Winfrey recorded a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Hughes and Kling each had a hit. Sophomore third baseman Kailei Allen recorded a hit.

Imhoff got the start for SFCC in the circle and pitched five innings, gave up seven runs on 11 hits, walked two, and struck out two. Reese pitched one inning, gave up one hit and struck out two.

In game two, the SFCC offense was held to eight hits. Hughes, Webb and Picha each had two hits. Winfrey and Klinge each recorded one hit.

Harris got the start in the circle for SFCC. Harris pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up six runs on 11 hits and walked two. Freshman Grace VanDenburgh pitched two- thirds of an inning, gave up one hit and one run.

April 22 - Crowder College at Sedalia

SFCC (12-26) split a Regin 16 doubleheader against Crowder College, winning game one 3-2 and losing game two 14-1.The win over Crowder was the first in the history of the program.

In game one, SFCC made the most of its three hits as a team. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when Klinge hit a three-run home run to give SFCC the lead. Crowder scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but SFCC emerged with a victory.

Winfrey had a hit and a run scored. Freshman first baseman Paige Clines recorded a hit. Webb scored a run.

Harris went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Harris gave up two runs on four hits, walked three and struck out two.

In game two, Winfrey had a pair of hits. Clines had two hits and a run scored. Lightle and Picha each had a hit.

VanDenburgh pitched 6 1/3 innings, gave up seven runs on 14 hits and struck out one. Reese pitched two-thirds of an inning, gave up seven runs (five earned runs) on six hits, walked four, and struck out one.
