Lady Roadrunners earn first Region 16 victory

March 15 - St. Charles Community College at St. Charles

The Lady Roadrunners (2-8, 1-3 in Region 16) softball team split a doubleheader against St. Charles Community College.

SFCC lost game one 8-7 in eight innings on a walk-off single before bouncing back to win game two 7-4. The games are part of the Region 16 schedule.

Freshman outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey led SFCC offensively with three hits and three runs batted in. Freshman shortstop Samantha Picha had two hits for SFCC.

Sophomore Kennidi Harris got the start in the circle for SFCC. She pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs.

In game two, freshman catcher Paige Klinge had three hits, including a home run, a double and two runs batted in. Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Alexis Hughes had two hits. Freshman third baseman/outfielder Zoey DeHaas, Picha, sophomore third baseman Kailei Allen, Klinge, and sophomore second baseman Kelsey Webb all had a double in game two.

Freshman Charlee Reese got the start in the circle for SFCC. She pitched six innings, allowed two earned runs, and struck out four.

"I thought our team played better defensively than we have in a while," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Michele Rupard. "We also competed better at the plate. It was good to get a region win under our belts, especially on the road."
