Roadrunners finish season at National Championships

The 22nd ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners cross country team finished 21st at the NJCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama Saturday, Nov. 11.

Freshman Justin Horn recorded the best individual finish for SFCC with a time of 27:35.40 on the 8K course to finish 94th. Freshman Josh Schaffart finished 147th with a time of 28:45.20. Freshman Guadalupe Rodriguez finished 168th with a time of 29:14.00. Freshman David Leon finished 183rd with a time of 29:40.00. Freshman Kaiden Smith finished 211th with a time of 30:50.70. Freshman Nickolas Crowell finished 247th in a time of 32:33.00. Freshman Mario Nunez finished 261st with a time of 33:41.80.

"The men got out fast and ran gritty in the back half of the race to finish strong," said Assistant Coach Cooper Pauley.  "We had a lot of good results with multiple guys setting personal records in the final race of the season. This helped pave the way to us finishing 21st in the country, one spot ahead of our ranking coming in."
