Roadrunners open season at SBU

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners cross country team opened their 2023 campaign at the Southwest Baptist University Bearcat Invitational at the Bolivar City Municipal Golf Course. SFCC finished 10th as a team in the field, composed of mainly four-year colleges and universities.

Josh Schaffart had the best finish for SFCC, finishing the four-mile course in 21:37.1 to finish in 56th place. Justin Horn finished in 97th with a time of 22:31.0. Ryan Bailey finished in 116th with a time of 23:49.4. Gavin Zumwalt came in 124th with a time of 24:20.7. David Leon finished 131st with a time of 24:49.6. Guadalupe Rodriguez came in 134th with a time of 25:11.7. Noah Holtmeyer finished 144th in a time of 26:16.1. Nickolas Crowell finished 149th with a time of 28:36.0.

"We were excited to get our regular competition season started," said head coach Brad Hagedorn. "It was warm in Bolivar, but our athletes rose to the occasion. Coach Pauley had them prepared for a very tough environment. Freshman Josh Schaffart set a school record at the four-mile distance. This race set the tone for what we hope is a very successful season."
