The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners and Lady Roadrunners Cross Country teams continued their season at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday, Oct. 1.

The Roadrunners finished 23rd as a team at the event. Freshman Ethan Montgomery led SFCC covering the 8k course in 28:38.3 finishing 90th. Freshman Ty Lewis ran a time of 29:29.6 finishing 121st. Freshman Logan Shaw finished the race with the time of 29:30.4, which was good enough for 122nd. Freshman Ryan Smith ran a 31:37.9, which placed him 191st. Sophomore Zack Dyer ran a 32:08.8, which was good enough for 202nd. Freshman Nathan Gemechu ran a 32:19.4, which placed him 203rd. Freshman Juan Herrera finished 215th with a time of 33:24.9.

"We ran better than we did two weeks ago," said SFCC Cross Country Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "The course was much tougher than the one at Missouri Southern. Ty Lewis managed to run basically the same time, even though he lost a shoe and ran last the 4.5 miles of a 5-mile race with only one shoe. Juan Herrera got tripped up and took a pretty significant tumble to start the race. Ethan, Zach, and Logan all ran extremely well. Nathan Gemechu finally got to run his first race of the season after battling a calf issue."

Freshman Korry Davis represented the Lady Roadrunners in the 5K race. Davis finished in a time of 24:27.7, which was good enough for 190th place as an individual in the women's open.

"Korry Davis showed why she is so dependable," said Hagedorn. "She is just steady as a rock."

SFCC will return to action at the Indian Hills Cross Country Invitational in Ottumwa, Iowa on Friday, Oct. 15.
