Roadrunners compete in inaugural cross country meet

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners made school history, as the cross country program competed at the Richard Clark SBU invitational hosted by Southwest Baptist University on Saturday, Sept. 4 in Bolivar, Missouri, a first for SFCC. State Fair Community College was the only non-NCAA Division II team at the event.

The Roadrunners were led by freshman Logan Shaw who covered the four-mile course in 22:52.01, which placed him 57th. Freshman Ethan Montgomery finished in 62nd with a time of 23:02.53. Freshman Ty Lewis finished 70th with a time of 23:42.98. Freshman Ryan Smith placed 75th in a time of 24:22.37.

Roadrunners Head Cross Country Coach Brad Hagedorn was happy with what he saw at the historic event.

"It was a great experience for us for our first collegiate race," said Hagedorn. "We did not have a complete team due to injury, but we did wonderfully well. We will take this opportunity and make improvements for our next meet in two weeks at Missouri Southern (Joplin)."
