Roadrunners finish regular season in Wichita

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners track and field team competed at the Shocker Open in Wichita, Kansas on Friday, May 5. The event took place inside Cessna Stadium.

Sophomore Landon Mason claimed the individual event title in the shot put with a throw of 12.89 meters. Mason finished second in the discus and the hammer throw with throws of 42.26 and 47.01 meters, respectively.

Sophomore Ty Lewis claimed the 800m title with a time of 2:00.63.

Sophomore Wyatt Irwin finished second in the long jump with a jump of 6.30 meters and third in the high jump with a jump of 1.93 meters.

The SFCC (A) 4 x 400m relay team consisting of Irwin, Sophomore David Leon, Addison Richards, and sophomore Brandon Allen finished second in a time of 3:39.07. The SFCC (B) 4 x 400m relay team consisting of sophomore Ryan Smith, sophomore Juan Herrera, sophomore Logan Shaw, and Lewis finished third with a time of 3:51.81.

Freshman Keyton Laire finished third in the shot put with a throw of 12.27 meters. Laire finished third in the discus with a throw of 36.92 meters. Laire finished fourth in the hammer throw with a throw of 38.98 meters. Laire finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 43.16 meters.

Richards finished third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.59. Richards finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.07.

Herrera finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:09.31.

Sophomore Ethan Sims finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 44.13 meters.

Smith finished fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:12.98.

Allen finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 22.55. Allen finished fifth in the 400m with a time of 51.39.

Leon finished sixth in the 400m with a time of 51.60.

"We finished the regular season in fabulous fashion," said Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "We achieved many personal records as we competed well against very good teams. We travel to Hobbs, New Mexico for our Outdoor National Championships in two weeks."
