Roadrunners soccer team falls in home opener

Sept. 3 - Northeast Community College at Sedalia

State Fair Community College (1-2) dropped a 4-0 match to Northeast Community College at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex.

Northeast Community College got on the scoreboard courtesy of a penalty kick with 21 minutes, 25 seconds remaining in the first half. Northeast held that advantage until halftime. Northeast scored again in the second half at the 38-minute, 24-second mark and tacked on two more goals for the win.

Roadrunner sophomore Leonardo Camatta registered two shots, one of which was on target. Northeast held SFCC to only four shots on goal during the entire match.

Sophomore Wesley Morrison got the start in goal for SFCC and made 10 saves.

"We actually looked pretty good at the beginning of the game," said Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "We were doing things that we had worked on. All of the sudden, we lost the ball a couple of times and started playing long ball, not following the game plan, and not pressing the ball. We knew that Northeast was a good team and that this was going to be a tough game."
