Roadrunners compete at William Woods Spring Invite

The Roadrunners golf team continued their spring campaign at the William Woods Spring Invite on March 27 and 28 at the Tanglewood Golf Course, a par 72 course in Fulton. SFCC shot a 313 in round one and a 319 in round two to finish with a total score of 56 over par 632, which resulted in a 16th finish as a team.

Freshman Keaton Mateja and freshman Jackson Kempton finished in a tie for 59th to lead SFCC with a total score of 13 over par 157. Mateja shot an 80 in round one and a 77 in round two. Kempton shot a 78 in round one and a 79 in round two.

Sophomore Matthew Potter shot a 79 in round one and followed that up with a another 79 in round two for a total score of 14 over par 158 to finish in a tie for 64th.

Sophomore Kaden Killingsworth shot a 76 in round one and an 85 in round two for a total score of 17 over par 161 to finish in a tie for 71st.

Freshman Korbin Kisner shot an 82 in round one and 84 in round two for a total score of 22 over par 166 to finish 78th.

"I am happy with the way our team scored," said Roadrunners Head Coach Wayne Ogle. "Being in an event with this many larger schools is not as much about how we placed, but how we scored as a team. It was very challenging with the wet conditions and a large field with over 160 players between the men and women's tournaments. It took over seven hours to play 18 holes both days. It takes some real concentration and discipline to keep it together for that long. This is one of, if not, the lowest 36 hole team totals we have had and all five players contributed to it."
