Roadrunners split a pair of Region contests

January 24 Moberly Area Community College at Moberly

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners fell to the 17th ranked Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds 68-44 Wednesday night, January 24 in Moberly. The game was part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

The Greyhounds got out to an 11-5 lead with 13:10 remaining in the opening half. Moberly pushed the advantage to 25-10 with less than eight minutes remaining in the half. The Greyhounds led 35-16 at halftime. The Greyhounds made the plays that were necessary to secure the victory.

Sophomore guard Elijah Edwards led SFCC with 11 points. Freshman forward Isaiah Jackson recorded a team-high nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Cliff Barrow had a team-high two assists. Freshman forward Thomas Diew registered a team-high three steals in the game.

January 27 Missouri State University-West Plains at West Plains

SFCC (8-13, 2-3 in Region 16) defeated Missouri State University-West Plains 52-49 in a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference game Saturday night, January 27 in West Plains. The game featured only three lead changes and one tie.

SFCC took a 27-18 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Roadrunners pushed the advantage to 33-19 in the second half. The 14-point advantage was the largest lead held by either team in the contest. West Plains got back into the game in the second half but could not overcome the deficit.

Barrow registered a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead his team in both categories. Barrow knocked down four three-point field goals in the game. Edwards contributed 18 points. Barrow led the team in steals with two. Freshman guards Alex Gunnels, Mosa Osagie, and Ben Miller all tied for the team lead in assists with three.
