Roadrunners open second semester

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners fell at home 80-77 to Link Year Prep on Saturday night, Jan. 6, in Sedalia.

Link Year Prep led 42-35 at halftime and extended the advantage to 18 points in the second half. The Roadrunners (6-10) went to a full-court pressure defense to change the tempo of the contest. SFCC missed on a pair of three-point shots in the waning seconds of the contest to tie the game.

"Link Year Prep was comfortable," said Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown. "They made their open three-point shots, made the extra pass, and moved the ball. I knew it would be a good game, that's why we scheduled this game to get ready for Region play. They made big three-point shots when they had to, and we didn't. Link Year Prep shoots the ball really well as a team and they also pass it well."

Freshman guard Steven Samuels led three Roadrunners with 16 points, five assists, and three steals. Sophomore guard Avant Coleman and freshman forward Thomas Diew added 13 points each. Freshman forward Isaiah Jackson pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.
