Roadrunners open preseason

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners basketball team opened their preseason schedule going 1-2 at the All-American Jamboree in Wichita, Kansas on Sunday, October 1.

The format of scrimmages consisted of two 20-minute halves with a running-clock. SFCC took on Weatherford College in their opening scrimmage. SFCC won that contest.

"We played a lot of guys," said head coach Matt Brown." It was a good scrimmage for us. We played a lot of different guys in different combinations. It was good team effort."

SFCC took on Pratt in the second scrimmage of the day and lost by five points.

"We played a lot of guys in that scrimmage as well," said Brown. "We were looking for different combinations. We needed to find out the things we're good at and things that we need to work on."

The Roadrunners closed out their portion of the event with a two-point loss to Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa.

"We were able to play 14 of the 15 guys on our roster throughout the day," said Brown. "We got to see a lot of different lineups. We got the opportunity to play against good competition at the event."
