Roadrunners baseball splits with North Central

April 25 - North Central Missouri College at Sedalia

The Roadrunners baseball team closed their regular season schedule with an 8-6 victory over North Central Missouri College at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field.

Freshman outfielder Devyn Wright led the SFCC offensive attack with three hits and two runs scored. Sophomore infielder Adam Webb contributed two hits, including a double, two RBIs, and scored a run. Freshman utility player Carter Jenkins registered a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Freshman outfielder Sam Russo drove in two runs. Freshman outfielder Logan Miller drove in a run.

Sophomore Chase Carson got the start on the mound for SFCC. Carson pitched six innings, gave up four runs (three earned runs) on eight hits and struck out five. Sophomore Garrett Dotson came out of the bullpen for SFCC. Dotson pitched two innings, gave up two unearned runs on no hits, walked one, and struck out one. Sophomore Christian Whitting pitched the ninth inning to earn the save, including a strikeout to seal the victory. Whitting gave up one hit and walked a batter.

"We got a good start from Chase Carson," said Roadrunners Head Coach Jud Kindle. "We were also able to get some timely hitting and play good defense."

The Roadrunners honored their sophomores in a pregame ceremony.

"I'm proud of our sophomore class," said Kindle. "These guys are just great kids. I couldn't ask for a better bunch when it comes to the character that they display. They earn good grades in the classroom, and we don't have any off-the-field issues. They are also good in our community. They will be missed for sure."

April 26 - North Central Missouri College at Trenton

SFCC (17-30) dropped a 5-4 game to North Central Missouri College.

Wright had a pair of hits. Jenkins had two hits, a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Russo had two hits, a double and two RBIs. Freshman outfielder John Greenwood had two hits. Miller had a hit and scored two runs.

Freshman Keith Piepmeier started on the mound. Piepmeier pitched six innings, gave up one run on seven hits, struck out four, and walked two. Freshman Tait Robertson pitched two-thirds of an inning, gave up three unearned runs on one hit, walked three, and struck out one. Freshman Jacob House pitched 1 1/3 innings, gave up two hits and struck out one. Freshman Jack Hudson pitched one-third of an inning, gave up one unearned run and walked two.
