Roadrunners defeated at John Wood, sweep Metropolitan Community College

April 11 - John Wood Community College at Quincy, Illinois

The Roadrunners fell 13-5 to John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois on Tuesday, April 11.

Freshman outfielder Logan Miller had two hits, including a double and a run scored in the game. Miller also drove in a run and stole a base. Freshman utility player Ryan Retone recorded two hits. Freshman outfielder Devyn Wright had a double and an RBI in the game. Freshman pitcher/infielder Brock Steggall had a double. Freshman outfielder John Greenwood recorded a double, a run batted in and a run scored. Sophomore catcher/second baseman Yeoncheol Choi drove in a run.

Sophomore Conner Fletcher got the start on the mound for SFCC. Fletcher pitched two innings, gave up six runs (three earned runs) on four hits and struck out three. Sophomore Austin Droege came out of the bullpen for SFCC to pitch 1/3 of an inning, gave up two runs on two hits. Sophomore Jack Lawton pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on three hits and struck out three. Sophomore Garrett Dotson pitched one inning and gave up three unearned runs on three hits.

April 13 - Metropolitan Community College at Parkville

SFCC swept the doubleheader 14-3 in five innings and 15-8 from Metropolitan Community College in Parkville on Thursday, April 13. The games were part of the Region 16 schedule.

In game one, freshman outfielder Sam Russo led the offensive attack for the Roadrunners with three hits, including a double, four runs scored, and four RBIs. Sophomore infielder Adam Webb had two hits, a double and scored twice. Sophomore infielder Conlan Downey had two hits, including a home run and five RBIs. Freshman utility player Carter Jenkins doubled and scored twice. Freshman outfielder John Greenwood doubled and scored two runs. As a team, the SFCC offense put together 10 hits.

Sophomore Chase Carson went the distance on the mound for SFCC. He gave up three runs on six hits, struck out six and walked two.

In game two, Miller had four hits, including a double and three runs scored. Downey had four hits, including a double, triple and three RBIs. Jenkins had two hits, including a home run and four RBIs. Russo added a pair of hits, including a double and two runs scored. Greenwood had an outstanding game at the plate with three hits, including a pair of home runs and a double, three runs scored and four RBIs. Freshman infielder JC Putnam registered a double and batted in a run. Webb and Choi each drove in a run.

Freshman Keith Piepmeier got the start on the mound for SFCC. Piepmeier pitched five innings, gave up three runs on four hits, struck out four and walked two. Freshman Korbin Bodde came out of the bullpen to pitch one inning, gave up one hit, one run, and walked one. Freshman Jacob House pitched two innings, gave up one run on two hits and struck out two. Freshman Jaden Kolb pitched one inning, gave up three runs (no earned runs), walked two, and struck out two.

April 14 - Metropolitan Community College at Parkville

SFCC (16-24, 8-12) finished a four-game sweep of Metropolitan Community College with 8-2 and 13-8 victories on Friday, April 14 in Parkville. The games were part of the Region 16 schedule.

In game one, the SFCC offense continued its hot hitting with 11 hits. Jenkins had a home run and a double with two runs scored and two RBIs to pace the SFCC offense. Miller had a pair of hits and an RBI. Russo had two hits, including a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Wright and Webb each scored two runs. Greenwood and sophomore catcher Benit Thacker each drove in a run.

Sophomore Zach Buschschulte went the distance in the seven-inning contest. Buschschulte gave up two runs on five hits, struck out nine, only walked two.

In game two, Retone led the offense with four hits, including two doubles, a triple, and scored three times. Miller had three hits and two RBIs. Jenkins had two hits. including a double and three RBIs. Downey had two hits, including a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Choi doubled, hit a home run, and had three RBIs. Wright and Webb each had a double in the contest. The SFCC offense put together 17 hits as a team.

Freshman Andrew Brakensiek got the start on the mound for SFCC. Brakensiek pitched 6 2/3 innings, gave up six runs on seven hits, walked three, and struck out four. Sophomore Christian Whiting came out of the bullpen to pitch 1 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on four hits, struck out two, and walked one. Steggall tossed two perfect innings to finish the game for SFCC.
