Roadrunners defeat MACC, win one of four against TRCC

April 4 - Moberly Area Community College at Moberly

The Roadrunners defeated Moberly Area Community College 10-1 in eight innings in Moberly and snapped a four-game losing streak.

Freshman outfielder John Greenwood led the offensive attack for SFCC with three hits and two RBIs. Freshman outfielder Logan Miller added two hits, scored two runs and stole a base. Freshman outfielder Devyn Wright had two hits. Freshman utility player Carter Jenkins had one hit, scored twice and drove in two runs. Freshman outfielder Sam Russo added two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore infielder Adam Webb added one hit, a run scored and an RBI and stole a base. Sophomore catcher/second baseman Yeoncheol Choi registered a hit and two RBIs. As a team, the SFCC offense produced 12 hits.

Sophomore Conner Fletcher got the start on the mound for SFCC. He pitched five innings, gave up one run on three hits, struck out six and walked two. Freshman Zach Buschschulte pitched one ending in relief. Freshman Brock Steggall pitched one inning in relief and recorded a strikeout. Freshman Andrew Brakensiek pitched the final inning of the game for SFCC and recorded two strikeouts.

April 7 - Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff

SFCC lost two games to Three Rivers Community College, 9-8 in seven innings in game one and 9-3 in game two. The doubleheader was part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule.

In game one, Jenkins led the SFCC offense with three hits. Greenwood had two hits, along with sophomore catcher Benit Thacker. Greenwood drove in two runs. Miller recorded a double.

Sophomore Chase Carson got the start on the mound for SFCC in game one. He pitched five innings, allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits, and struck out five. Steggall pitched one inning, gave up three runs on three hits and struck out two. Sophomore Christian Whitting pitched 1/3 of an inning, gave up one run on two hits and struck out one.

In game two, Webb led the offensive attack for SFCC with three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Choi recorded a double in the game and drove in a run. Jenkins scored two runs. Russo scored a run. The SFCC offense was held to seven hits.

Freshman Keith Piepmeier got the start on the mound for SFCC. He pitched four innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, and struck out two. Freshman Tait Robertson came out of the bullpen for SFCC. Robertson pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowed two runs on six hits and struck out one. Freshman Brandon Hull pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up three runs (no earned runs) on two hits and struck out two. Freshman Korbin Bodde pitched the final inning and gave up two hits.

April 8 - Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff

SFCC (12-23, 4-12 in Region 16) split a pair of Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games, dropping the first game 9-4 before bouncing back to win game two 11-6 against Three Rivers Community College.

In game one, Miller had three hits, a run scored and an RBI. Wright had a pair of hits, including a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Russo had a pair of hits, including a double. Greenwood drove in a run.

Buschschulte got the start on the mound for SFCC and pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowed six runs on eight hits, and struck out five. Whitting came out of the bullpen to pitch the final two-thirds of an inning, gave up three runs (two earned runs) on two hits, and struck out one.

In game two, Miller had four hits, including a double and four RBIs to lead SFCC. Jenkins had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Sophomore infielder Conlan Downey recorded three hits, including a double and scored twice. Webb and Russo had two hits each. Freshman infielder Kaden McBratney scored twice. As a team the SFCC offense had 16 hits.

Brakensiek got the start on the mound for SFCC. Brakensiek pitched five innings, gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out four. Bodde didn't record any outs, gave up three runs and walked two. Freshman Jacob House pitched three innings, gave up one run on two hits and struck out two. Fletcher pitched the final inning and gave up a hit.
