Roadrunners Baseball Recap April 27-29

April 27 Three Rivers Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners split a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader with Three Rivers Community College, winning the first game 11-8 before dropping game two 10-0 in five innings, on Tuesday, April 27 at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field.

In game one, SFCC hit four home runs to pace their offensive attack. Freshman infielder Brandon Stahlman of Washington had a pair of hits, (including a home run). Stahlman scored three times and drove in two runs. Redshirt sophomore outfielder Tommy Ruether of Washington put together a team-high three hits (including a double), scored a run, and drove in a run. Freshman catcher/pitcher Zachary Dillman of Lee's Summit had three hits (including two doubles and a home run), scored two runs, and drove in two. Freshman infielder/outfielder Jacob McWhirter of Guelph, Ontario had a pair of hits, (a double and a home run), drove in three runs, and scored once. Redshirt sophomore infielder Clayton Meyer of Sedalia hit a home run and drove in two runs. Sophomore catcher Dylan Thompson of Camdenton drove in a run.

Freshman pitcher Roy Holcomb of St. Joseph got the start on the mound for SFCC.  Holcomb pitched six innings, surrendered five hits, and four runs. Holcomb struck out four to earn the victory. Redshirt sophomore pitcher Tyler Abney of Sedalia came out of the bullpen to record the final out of the game and pick up the save.

In game two, SFCC was no-hit by Three Rivers. Sophomore infielder Brady Strickert of Blue Springs drew a walk for SFCC.

Sophomore pitcher Connor Barnes of Boonville got the start on the mound for SFCC. Barnes pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs (five of which were earned) on six hits and struck out two. Barnes was given the pitching loss.

April 29 North Central Missouri College at Sedalia

SFCC (20-24) fell 11-8 to North Central Missouri College in the final regular-season home contest at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field.

Freshman infielder Austin Warkins of Haysville, Kansas led the SFCC offensive attack with two hits (one homerun), two runs, and three RBI. Stahlman also had a pair of hits, scored a pair of runs, and drove in one. Dillman registered two more hits (including a homerun), to go along with a run, and one RBI. Thompson and freshman outfielder Drake Miller of Camdenton had a pair of hits each.

Freshman pitcher Tucker Nunnenkamp of Lee's Summit got the start on the mound for SFCC. Nunnenkamp pitched four innings, gave up five hits, and one run.
