Roadrunners Baseball Recaps April 21-25

April 21 North Arkansas College at Harrison, Arkansas

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners swept a doubleheader 12-9 and 13-3 in five innings against North Arkansas College on Wednesday, April 21 in Harrison, Arkansas.

In game one, freshman infielder Brandon Stahlman of Washington hit a pair of home runs and drove in three. Freshman pitcher/catcher Zachary Dillman of Lee's Summit had three hits (including two home runs), scored three times and drove in three runs. Freshman infielder/outfielder Jacob McWhirter of Guelph, Ontario had two hits (including a home run) and drove in three runs. Sophomore catcher Dylan Thompson of Camdenton registered a team-high four hits, scored two runs and two RBI. Freshman infielder Austin Warkins of Haysville, Kansas doubled and scored twice. Freshman infielder Brayden McGinnis of Concordia had two hits (one double). Sophomore infielder Brady Strickert of Blue Springs had a hit, scored a pair of runs, and drove in one.

Sophomore pitcher Peyton Seiz of Holden got the start and the win for SFCC. Seiz pitched six innings, gave up three runs, (one earned) on five hits and struck out nine. Redshirt sophomore pitcher Tyler Abney of Sedalia came on to record the final out of the game and pick up the save.

In game two, SFCC scored 13 runs on 12 hits as a team. Dillman had a pair of hits (one home run), three RBI and three runs scored. McWhirter had two hits (one home run), four runs batted in and three runs scored. Thompson recorded pair of hits (one double), three runs scored and three RBI. McGinnis had a pair of hits (one double). Redshirt sophomore outfielder Tommy Ruether of Washington scored two runs. Stahlman scored three runs. Freshman outfielder Drake Miller of Camdenton and Warkins drove in a run each.

Freshman pitcher Tucker Nunnenkamp of Lee's Summit went the distance on the mound for SFCC. Nunnenkamp gave up three runs, (two earned), on two hits and struck out seven.

 

April 25 Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff Poplar Bluff High School

SFCC (19-22) swept a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader against Three Rivers Community College winning game one in come-from-behind fashion 10-6, and 9-5 in game two.

Warkins led the SFCC offense with three hits, (one double and a home run), drove in four runs and scored one. Ruether had a pair of hits (one home run), drove in a pair of runs and scored two. Stahlman had a pair of hits (one double) and two runs driven in. Thompson had a pair of hits and a run batted in. Miller contributed two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Antonio Escano of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic started the game for SFCC. Escano pitched five innings, allowed four runs on seven hits, and struck out eight. Abney pitched three innings, allowed one run on two hits to pick up the victory in relief.

In game two, Thompson led the offense with three hits (one home run and a double), scored twice and drove in four runs. Warkins contributed two hits (one double), drove in a run, and scored three times. McWhirter doubled, scored a run and drove in a run. Ruether had two hits. Stahlman also had a pair of hits, a run scored and a run batted in. Miller and redshirt sophomore infielder Clayton Meyer of Sedalia drove in a run each.

Sophomore pitcher Andrew Clark of Belton started for SFCC. Clark pitched four innings, gave up five runs (two earned) on six hits and struck out four. Clark was given a no decision. Seiz pitched two innings to pick up the victory in relief, allowed one hit and struck out four.
